Alexander Kirkpatrick

Alexander William Kirkpatrick is a retired attorney in Brentwood, California. During his 40-year career, he handled health care law, including over thirty-five years of private practice representing physicians, pharmacies and pharmacists, dentists, dental hygienists, registered and vocational nurses, clinical laboratory operators, psychologists, chiropractors, registered physical therapists, podiatrists, and other health care providers in matters of professional licensure, discipline, reimbursement, and litigation concerning healthcare-related matters in state and federal courts. Mr. Kirkpatrick had extensive experience representing healthcare providers and suppliers in Medicare and Medi-Cal audits, appeals, and reinstatement proceedings. He also handled Fraud and Abuse cases, including state and federal civil monetary penalties and civil RICO actions. In addition, he has represented pharmacies in Pharmacy Benefit Manager actions and healthcare licensees in civil litigation related to breach of contract, insurance bad faith, partnership dissolution, and commercial disputes. Mr. Kirkpatrick's litigation experience includes state and federal court trials, depositions, petitions for administrative mandate, injunctive relief, mediation, arbitration, and motion practice. He has successfully represented licensees in various cases. 

 Mr. Kirkpatrick prepared for his career by obtaining his Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University in 1971 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Los Angeles, California School of Law in 1974. He is licensed to practice law in California and Texas and has represented clients in various courts, including the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia (pro haec vice), United States District Court for the Central, Eastern, and Southern Districts of California, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Tax Court. Mr. Kirkpatrick was a member of several professional organizations such as the California Academy of Attorneys for Health Care Professionals, California Society for Healthcare Attorneys, and Approved Panel attorney for The Doctors Company, SCIPE (prior to the merger), CAP-MPT, and Fair American Insurance & Reinsurance (psychiatrists). As an industry leader, Mr. Kirkpatrick presented and spoke extensively in his field. AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell since 2004, Mr. Kirkpatrick has received Super Lawyers, Health Care Law, 2008 - 2020 and Southern California Super Lawyers – Health Care Law, 2012 - 2019. In his free time, he enjoys golfing and traveling. Thus far, Mr. Kirkpatrick has visited over 35 countries and looking forward to visiting Paris again.
