Dan Webb
Dan K. Webb is a highly accomplished trial lawyer with a distinguished career spanning various areas of law, including major commercial, civil, regulatory, and white-collar criminal cases. Mr. Webb is a Partner and Co-Executive Chairman of Winston & Strawn, a leading law firm in Chicago, Illinois. Throughout his career, Mr. Webb has tried over 100 jury cases, handling various claims and earning a reputation as one of the most distinguished and sought-after trial lawyers in the United States. He earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Some of his significant cases include Operation Greylord: As the U.S. Attorney in Chicago, Mr. Webb spearheaded the Operation Greylord investigations, targeting judicial corruption in Cook County, Illinois. His service as a special prosecutor in high-profile cases underscores his significant contributions to the legal field. Notably, he was named Am Law's "Litigator of the Week" in December 2021 for his successful prosecution of actor Jussie Smollett in Chicago.
Mr. Webb served as lead trial counsel for General Electric, successfully defending the company against criminal price-fixing allegations related to industrial diamonds, Mr. Webb represented Microsoft Corp. in antitrust litigation, played a key role in tobacco-related litigation representing Philip Morris, a historic defamation Case for Beef Products Inc. (BPI), where he achieved a historic win for BPI in a defamation action against ABC News. The case was one of the largest defamation cases in U.S. history, and Mr. Webb successfully represented various clients in antitrust cases, including Wyeth (Pfizer), C.R. Bard, and Monsanto. He also served as lead trial counsel in the Engle v. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. class action, among others. Mr. Webb is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has served on the Board of Directors for Equal Justice Works and chaired the Chicago Bar Association’s Campaign for Justice. Mr. Webb made significant pledges and established endowed professorships and scholarship funds at his alma maters, Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and Western Illinois University. In 2019, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, a nationally ranked physical medicine and rehabilitation research hospital.
