Edward Fox
Edward M. Fox is a managing partner of Ed Fox & Associates, Ltd., Chicago, Illinois. Practicing law for the past 30 years, he practices nursing home injuries, employment discrimination, police misconduct, civil rights violations, medical malpractice, personal injury (plaintiff), and motor vehicle accidents (plaintiff)-related claims. In preparation for his career, Mr. Fox received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in 1976 and obtained his law degree from Southwestern University in 1985. At law school, he graduated near the top of his class after winning a national moot court competition. Admitted to practice in Illinois and California, Mr. Fox represents clients before the U.S. District Court Northern District of Illinois Trial Bar, U.S. District Court Central District of Illinois, U.S. District Court Central District of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals 7th & 9th Circuits. Since his law practice, Mr. Fox has worked for those whose rights were violated by those in a position of trust or authority, such as nursing homes, police officers, and employers. In 1999, he started his firm, Ed Fox & Associates, Ltd., with another attorney. Since its inception, Ed Fox & Associates has grown exponentially. Throughout his career, he has represented numerous high-profile cases. Some of the high profile/media-intensive cases include a police brutality case against Mark Fuhrman during the O.J. Simpson trial, and a police misconduct case against the LA Sheriff's Department caused when deputy sheriffs tried to kill one of their deputies (in the process, crippling him) who would not go along with a police cover-up. Other high-profile cases include a class action strip search case arising out of strip searches of African-American women at O’Hare airport that began in 1997 and settled in 2006. The case was televised on Dateline and forced some needed policy changes in searches of how U.S. Customs (now Homeland Security) conducts searches. Mr. Fox also won a large jury trial against Chevron for an employee who was subjected to an illegal random drug search and then fired for refusing to cooperate with the search. Similarly, he has garnered numerous other favorable results for his clients. His wide trial experience includes matters of police brutality, employment discrimination, and nursing home abuse. As a leading attorney in his field, Mr. Fox has spoken on various legal issues related to his practice areas. In 2000, he testified before the United States Congress on issues of racial profiling. Notably, he was consulted by members of the media in connection with a nursing home case where a young, profoundly disabled woman was raped, became pregnant, and delivered her disabled baby because of the negligence of the nursing home. Rooted in unparalleled professionalism, Mr. Fox furnishes top-notch legal representation to his clients. Highly praised by his peers and clients, he enjoys playing jazz piano in his free time.
