For over ten years, Mr. Morganroth represented John Z. DeLorean, the founder of the DeLorean Motor Company, and his affiliated entities. He defended Mr. DeLorean in approximately 40 civil cases, including civil claims, extradition proceedings, criminal cases, business transactions, tax litigation, and real estate matters, with over $1 billion at stake. Mr. Morganroth successfully defended Mr. DeLorean and managed to save over $51 million for him. For over sixteen years, Mr. Morganroth led numerous cases for Dr. Jack Kevorkian (the last 11 years as solo lead counsel). He defended Dr. Kevorkian in criminal trials as co-counsel with Geoffrey Fieger, leading to acquittal or dismissal of charges. Mr. Morganroth also crafted the successful petition for the early release of Dr. Kevorkian from prison, appeals and entertainment matters, including book deals, lecture deals, and movie and documentary deals. Some of his other notable designations include special outside legal counsel to Mayor Coleman A. Young for twenty years, lead counsel for Christine Beatty in the Wayne County criminal case alleging perjury, obstruction of justice, and misconduct in office, lead counsel in a complex commercial matter against two large national grocery chains that resulted in a breach of contract and fraud judgment in favor of his client for $31.0 million after a lengthy jury trial, and lead counsel in a RICO and securities fraud case against a large investment banking institution that resulted in a substantial settlement in favor of his clients.
